TIRE INTEL
Italian Divide mixes everything: white roads, mountain singletrack, hike-a-bike, sealed sections. Wider is better. Tubeless mandatory; carry 2 tubes + plug kit.
WEATHER PLAYBOOK
Early June Italy: Alps still cool (5-15°C high passes), Tuscany pleasant (15-25°C), Southern Italy hot (25-35°C). Pack layers + sun protection.
PACING PLAYBOOK
Alpine descents then settling into Apennines. Don't race day 1.
White roads section. Eat heavily — food + wine culture rewards stopping.
Heat + remote sections. Mental low point. Sleep enough to think clearly.
