RED FLAGS
- [!]The 360 has a ~22 hr cutoff — overnight effort
- [!]Steep, rocky descents reward MTB skills
- [!]Girona accommodation premium during race week
- [!]Sells out months in advance
- [!]Heat + dust on the 200 / 360 routes
RIDER FIT
The 360 is a 15-22 hr engine event
6,500 m vert rewards low-watt grinders
Pair with a Girona training week
Gravel Earth flagship — full international visibility
The 100 is fast; the 360 is not
The 360 is essentially a one-day bikepacking effort
Crossing into hour 12 with another 100 km to go, dark Catalan backroads, a 6,500 m tally building in your legs — this is where The Traka separates ultra-curious riders from finishers.
TIRE INTEL
Catalan terrain is dry and rocky. Side-knob grip helps on the loose descents and switchbacks. Casing protection is more important than rolling speed for the 200 and 360.
WEATHER PLAYBOOK
Late April / May Catalonia: 12-28 °C, low humidity, occasional thunderstorm. Sun protection > rain protection. Cold nights for 360 riders — pack a thermal layer.
PACING PLAYBOOK
Fast neutral roll-out into the Empordà. Conserve, find a working group.
Mid-section warmth; eat ahead of the climbs to come.
360 riders enter the dark. Lights on, layers up, switch into ultra-mode.
Long downhill back to Banyoles / Girona — focus on staying upright.
WHAT TO FEAR
- [!01]Rocky descents at hour 14 with a tired brain
- [!02]Heat on the exposed Empordà sections
- [!03]Mechanical isolation on the deep 360 loop
- [!04]Underestimating night riding kit on the 360
- [!05]Banyoles finish-line cutoff stress
TRAVEL OPS
The European race that finally rivals Unbound. Pick your distance honestly — the 360 is a different sport from the 100.
IF NOT THIS, THEN
- →Same continent, smaller:Jeroboam
- →Same scale, US version:Unbound Gravel
- →Harder, more remote:Badlands
- →Volcanic alternative:The Rift
